Manager, Environmental Health & Safety
For over 17 years, Kevin Howlett has been responsible for safety management across all ITAC locations in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. He ensures that jobsites, employees and subcontractors follow the company’s strict safety standards and procedures. Kevin’s commitment to ITAC’s world class safety program is evident in the company’s impressive record — under his guidance, ITAC has achieved over 8.5 million safe work hours without a lost time injury in the past 12 years. Such stellar safety performance has earned the company prestigious awards including BB&T’s Lighthouse Beam Safety Awards, an honor for which only 3% of clients in BB&T’s entire footprint are qualified.
A veteran of construction, Kevin began his career in 1976 and worked his way up to a supervisory role. While working for Fluor Daniels in 1988, Kevin narrowed his focus to safety and has since worked on projects ranging from $50 to $500 million. His experience over the last four decades includes overseeing company safety and health regulations, OSHA and MSHA regulations and clients’ and subcontractors’ safety policies. Additionally, Kevin is the lead company official on OCIP (Owner Controlled Insurance Programs) and CCIP (Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs).
Some of his many certifications include World Safety Organization Certified Safety Manager and Registered Safety Director, OSHA 500 and MSHA Instructor. When Kevin is not ensuring all of our employees’ safety, he enjoys spending time with his sons and grandsons, almost always outdoors.
