ITAC converted an idle particle board plant to produce 120,000 short ton/year of wood pellets for the US and European residential heating markets. As the engineer/GC, ITAC upgraded the woodyard, rebuilt the drying, screening and dry grinding process to feed 3 new pellet mills, installed a new 500-ton silo, screening system, and fully automated bagging line. Executing this project on a design-build basis reduced design time, simplified construction drawings, identified value engineering alternatives, created minimal change orders, and reduced the construction schedule by 3 months.
