Substation Perimeter Security
ITAC played in an instrumental role as an engineer and constructor for Dominion in its extensive, multiyear program to provide adequate perimeter security protection for operating substations against natural disaster and outside attack which could compromise the availability of electrical service on the grid. Dominion was tasked with complying with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) CIP-014 standard on security for critical substations which protect the station boundary.
ITAC worked to provide 20-foot-tall or greater perimeter systems that were comprised of precast concrete panels with pre-stressed support columns or powder coated steel security fencing with personnel gates, slide/rolling vehicle gates and specially designed vehicle crash systems.
All projects were contracted and constructed safely, on time and within the conformed budget for the work involved.
