Wood Pellet Plant Retrofit & Expansion
ITAC served as the engineer and general contractor on a multi-million-dollar expansion and conversion project involving a demolition and conversion of a particle board plant and re-purpose to wood pellet plant. The project included improvements to architectural elements, mechanical, electrical, structural systems of the facility plus existing equipment refurbishment. Multiple process lines were installed in a specific sequential order (required by owner). ITAC designed and installed all process equipment utilities (electric power, instrumentation and controls, chilled water, natural gas systems, instrument air systems, steam and condensate, utility water, and dust collection systems). ITAC provided flushing, cleaning, testing, commissioning, start-up, and verification/validation of design for all of the utility systems. Other features of this multi-trade project managed by ITAC included fire protection included wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action suppression systems, life safety requirements and fire-resistant construction defined by the owner’s insurer. Specification and installation of NEMA rated electrical enclosures, underground surveys for existing utilities, duct bank, switchboard, transformer, power panel, breaker, and grounding grid installations.
ITAC delivered the multi-trade engineering and construction project on a design build basis. This reduced design time, simplified construction drawings, identified and analyzed value engineering alternatives, reduced construction schedule, minimized communication channels with a single point of contact, created minimal change orders, improved teamwork and provided the client total accountability.
